One of my fav's too!  Jane read it a few years ago when we did the Revolution the first time.

Thanks for the boy info!  I was wondering about books for boys for the time period we are doing American Girl for.

I love the Royal diaries!  It was your Random who gave Red her first one.

This is only day 3 for us, and days 1 and 2 were very light. Today, I've got a miserable cold, so I won't be at top performance, either!

We are doing Sonlight 3, and it's a treat for me to read through the books again. It's been a long, long time! We have The Witch of Blackbird Pond this year, too, which has the distinction of being the only read aloud I did with the children that I read ahead in. (Usually, I force myself not to do so, but with that one, I gave in to the overwhelming temptation!)

Rachel is the only one home full-time, just like last year. We have the usual: Saxon 54, journal, science and history writing, MindBenders, home ec, etc. Nothing is new or out of the ordinary this year. Yet, I really feel that this could be the breakthrough year for her. It was SUCH a struggle last year, as you know.

This is fun to look through.  I am intrigued by "Outrageous Women of the Renaissance"  and "Shakespeare without the Boring Bits"--never heard of either.  Hope you'll post reviews on which ones were great reads!

@TeacherPerson - You read ahead in a read-aloud? Oh, for shame!     If my kids ever found out I did that...oooooh, boy!   Though I have been exceedingly tempted at times!  (I had read Witch before, so I didn't have to, LOL!) We just started Core 7 today, and I am thoroughly re-enjoying A Murder For Her Majesty!

@TeacherPerson - I always read a head in the read alouds!  Does that make me a bad person?  Hope the cold is on the mend!

@homefire - I have read them both before and like them a lot.  In fact, we LOVE "Shakespeare without the Boring Bits" and have read it half a dozen times.  It was an easy choice when we started a Shakespeare unit.
